Company Profile
|
The Teledyne name in the geophysical industry dates back to the 1960s, when some
of our earliest designs for streamer cables, energy sources, and recording systems
were put to use aboard seismic research vessels around the world.
Geophysical Instruments carries on this tradition, and has earned a strong reputation
in the industry for designing, building, and delivering high-quality, reliable,
and durable marine seismic exploration products. Our products are used aboard more
than one-third of all commercial seismic research vessels.
We continue our focus on serving the needs of the geophysical industry, but we also
eagerly assist non-geophysical organizations in finding solutions to their marine
data acquisition needs. Our versatile designs for hydrophones and streamer cables
can be easily adapted to a variety of unique applications. Additionally, we offer
a variety of specialty products and services that are designed to meet specific
needs of customers.
With facilities in both the Houston, Texas, and Gloucester, England, Geophysical
Instruments is strategically located to serve worldwide requirements.
Marine Exploration Products
Exploration of the ocean bottoms for petroleum deposits is highly important
in meeting the ever-increasing need for energy products. This exploration involves
sophisticated research vessels towing arrays of long streamer cables with hundreds
of hydrophones. An acoustic impulse generated at the vessel and reflected by the
ocean bottom is received by the hydrophones. The collected signals are interpreted
by highly complex data processors, with the results being predictions of petroleum
deposits.
Geophysical Instruments, a business unit of Teledyne Instruments, is the leading
independent supplier of hydrophones and streamer cables for marine exploration.
For over three decades, our products have set the industry standard. Marine Product's
equipment is used on more than one-third of commercial seismic research vessels
throughout the world.
In addition to supplying hydrophones, array cables, and related hardware items,
we provide repair services for our own equipment as well as that of other manufacturers.
With facilities in both the Houston, Texas, and Gloucester, England, Geophysical
Instruments is strategically located to serve worldwide requirements.
Company Overview
What would it take to measure tiny pressure waves in an aquatic environment? Teledyne
Geophysical Instruments. We design and manufacture sensor and sensor arrays for
subsurface geological structure mapping to identify structures/features likely to
contain hydrocarbon deposits; listening for the “signatures” associated with ships
and submarines, engineering surveys below the ocean floor to facilitate pipe laying
or structure placement and research associated with marine environment.
